Recognizing its potential, Valentino chose to make it a focal point of the collection, launching the bag in a wide array of variations that explore different colors, materials, and intricate details.
THE CHALLENGE
To celebrate this release, Valentino introduced an exclusive customization initiative: offering clients the opportunity to engrave their initials on the bag’s tag. Our challenge was to design a digital application that answered a dual strategic brief. First, it needed to act as a drive-to-store asset, shared remotely by Client Advisors to spark desire and invite clients into the boutique.
Second, it served as a crucial in-store clienteling tool. For customers already exploring the collection in person, Advisors could use the interface directly on their iPads to visually demonstrate the premium engraving service and facilitate the upsell.
APPROACH
We envisioned a user journey that instantly immerses the client in the creative process. Flipping the traditional e-commerce narrative, users are immediately invited to customize their DeVain bag with up to three characters right from the start. Once a model is selected, they land on a dynamic preview screen where they can seamlessly tweak their initials, toggle formatting, and swap bags with
a single tap, watching their bespoke details update in real-time. Since the application was designed to be handled by Client Advisors during live consultations, we optimized the interface for iPad interactions. Under the hood, we engineered a highly performant React Single Page Application to guarantee a lightning-fast, premium digital environment.
RESULT
The platform successfully empowered Client Advisors both remotely and on the shop floor, transforming a digital interaction into a tangible boutique experience. By integrating a custom analytics architecture, we also enabled the brand to monitor engagement, tracking the most desired models and popular personalization trends.
The initiative resonated strongly with Valentino’s clientele, and the robust technical foundation we built proved its strategic worth immediately. Thanks to its highly scalable architecture, we smoothly executed three subsequent releases over the following months, seamlessly introducing new seasonal variations into the catalog without ever compromising the platform’s premium performance.
